If you want a file management tool to use instead of Total Commander, put TASTEFILES on your list. Here is what it does, where it runs and how to switch.
Provides 19 presets including Next.js, Node, Rust, Python, JVM, .NET, Go, and Flutter, and automatically detects the project type from marker files such as package.json and Cargo.toml. Excluded folders aren't even scanned, so even a huge node_modules is skipped instantly.
Combine glob include and exclude patterns, extensions, size, modification time, name regex, hidden files, and .gitignore rules. A dry run shows how many files will be copied and excluded before you start.
Splits large and small files into separate work lanes processed at the same time, and uses the operating system's native copy path. The target folder is listed only once, and only changed files are recopied.
Moves only the files that pass the filter, and deletes the originals only when every file finishes without errors. If there's an error or cancellation, the originals stay where they are.
Large files are copied in chunks with a per-file progress bar, and canceling stops immediately and cleans up partially written files.
Offers per-folder project badges, dimmed excluded items, git branches, a command palette, code preview, one-click opening in a terminal or VS Code, favorites, and keyboard-first navigation.
