FastAPI 0.162.0 stable changes defaults for omitted boolean form fields
On 2026-10-24 Korean time, the GitHub stable release was published at 03:47:17 and the PyPI wheel and source files at 03:47:31–33. Omitted bool and bool | None form fields no longer infer False; they use declared defaults or produce missing-field errors (PR #16605). This applies to individual form parameters, form models and unions of form models. Omitted model fields are excluded from model_dump(exclude_unset=True), and defaults do not count as submitted fields during union selection. HTML checkboxes should explicitly declare a default of False. This is a compatibility change: developers should review requests relying on omitted checkboxes, defaults or union handling.
