TASTEREMOTE is a remote desktop that lets you see and control another computer's screen in a web browser. This user guide covers the release after TASTEREMOTE 0.2.10. If your server runs a different release, some screens may look a little different.

| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Host | The computer that receives remote connections. It has the host program (host app) installed. |
| Viewer | The side that connects. Nothing to install: you use a web browser. |
| Server | The signal server that links hosts and viewers. A company or person installs it themselves, or uses the server TASTEDEV runs. |
| ID | A 9-digit number given to each host. The host window shows it like 123 456 789. |
| One-time password | The 8-character password shown in the host window, in the form XXXX-XXXX. |
| My devices | Computers registered to your account. You connect to them at any time with the device password you set. |
Connect by ID: Get the ID and one-time password shown in the other computer's host window, and connect. You do not need an account, and the screen shows only after the other person presses Allow in the host window. This suits remote support. For details, see Connect by ID.
Connect to my devices (unattended access): Once you register your computer to your account, you can connect to it right away with its device password, even when no one is in front of it. For details, see Account and my devices.
The one-time password does not change with every connection. It changes only in these three cases:
The page introducing TASTEREMOTE is at Product overview. How to run your own server is in the Operator chapters of this user guide.
